Job Description

Metrology Technician II UPM Pharmaceuticals is an independent, highly experienced, and award-winning contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) located in Bristol, Tennessee. UPM Pharmaceutical's mission is to advance Client formulation development efforts to the fullest extent possible with the ultimate goal of commercialization, all while adhering to strict standards of quality, timeliness, scientific fundamentals, and affordability.
Summary:
The Metrology Technician II develops, evaluates and performs calibration methods that measure characteristics of measuring and test equipment, such as length, mass, time, temperature, electric current, voltage, pressure and derived units of physical measure; performs and oversees the calibration, precision and accuracy of instrumentation in the manufacturing, packaging, quality control laboratories and stability areas; identifies magnitude of error sources contributing to uncertainty of results to determine reliability of measurement process in quantitative terms; redesigns or adjusts measurement capability to minimize errors on a variety of equipment and instrumentation used throughout the company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Perform calibrations at all UPM manufacturing and storage facilities. 2. Develops calibration methods and techniques based on principles of metrology, technical analysis of measurement problems, and accuracy and precision requirements. 3. Maintains the traceability, evaluation and calibration of measurement standards, instruments, and test systems to ensure unbroken chain of calibrations ending with comparison standards maintained by
N.I.S.T. 4.
Maintains the calibration databases in the Blue Mountain Regulatory Asset Manager System; database containing a List of Calibration Standards, averages of Rotating Devices, CFM readings for HEPA Filters, and Out of Tolerances. 5. Provides technical analysis of measurement problems, accuracy and precision requirements. 6. Troubleshoot, maintain and diagnose faults with instruments. 7. Advises others on methods of resolving measurement problems and exchanges information with other calibration personnel. 8.Performs and organizes repair and maintenance of instruments and related equipment and coordinates outside vendor calibrations 9. Preparing equipment for shipping and restoring equipment back in service upon return. 10. Provides cost, availability, reliability and procurement of instruments. 11. Creates new and/or revises existing calibration SOPs. 12. All other duties as may be assigned.
Education/Experience:
Associates Degree in electronics and six years related experience or High School Diploma and eight years equivalent experience and training.
