Job Description

Automation Controls Engineer responsible for PLC/HMI programming, controller integration, installation support, and debugging of custom automated production equipment. Job Requirements 5-10 years of controls or automation engineering experience. Experience with custom automation equipment and machine control systems. PLC and HMI programming experience. Beckhoff controls experience preferred. Rockwell controls experience with Structured Text accepted in lieu of Beckhoff experience. C# programming experience accepted for applicable controls environments. Experience supporting equipment installation, startup, commissioning, and debugging. Valid U.S. passport required for international travel. Ability to travel extensively to Baja, Mexico. Ability to work onsite rotations of approximately 6-8 weeks per rotation. Ability to support a travel schedule of approximately 50 weeks per year. Preferred Skills Beckhoff PLC and HMI programming experience. Rockwell PLC programming using Structured Text. C# programming experience for industrial automation applications. Cognex vision system experience. Experience with multi-station automated production equipment. Experience with distributed or dedicated controller architectures. Experience commissioning large custom automation systems. Job Responsibilities Develop and modify PLC and HMI programs for custom automation equipment. Program and integrate dedicated controllers for individual automation modules. Support controls development for multiple production lines and multi-station equipment. Perform equipment installation, startup, commissioning, and onsite validation. Troubleshoot and debug PLC, HMI, controls, and automation system issues. Support offline operation and testing of individual automation modules. Diagnose controls issues during equipment integration and installation. Implement software and controls changes based on commissioning and testing results. Support vision system integration when applicable. Provide onsite controls support during extended installation rotations in Mexico.
