An Instrumentation Technician carries out planned or unplanned maintenance and repair activities on a wide range of electronic equipment and process control and safety systems.
The Senior I&E Technician is responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance of instrumentation and electrical equipment at our Pilot Plant facility. This hands-on role involves troubleshooting complex systems, performing repairs, and maintaining accurate documentation in a dynamic industrial processing environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on electrical equipment (480V and below) and plant instrumentation. Conduct calibrations of instrumentation, test interlocks, and troubleshoot and repair instrument loops and electrical systems. Operate test and calibration tools including pneumatic calibrators, RTD calibrators, digital/analog multi-meters, meggers, communicators, and laptops. Use engineering prints and plant documentation to diagnose and resolve equipment problems. Install conduit, cable, tubing, and related components to support equipment maintenance. Assist in root cause analysis of equipment failures. Collaborate with the Maintenance Planner to develop accurate I&E work plans. Specify and order materials and parts required for I&E work. Document work performed in procedures and work packages; update equipment records in the plant library. Maintain portable measuring, test, and electrical safety equipment per established standards. Uphold compliance with all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Required High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum 7 years of I&E experience in an industrial processing plant environment. PLC experience with Allen-Bradley or Compaq PLC systems. Strong personal safety philosophy with solid troubleshooting and fault isolation skills. Detail-oriented with good organizational skills and commitment to thorough documentation. Flexibility for on-call availability during off-shifts, weekends, and holidays (advance notice provided when possible). Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.). Preferred Degree or certification in an I&E-related field. Prior I&E experience in a chemical plant environment.
