Job Description
Job Description As an Outside Plant (OSP) Fiber Technician, you'll be responsible for maintaining and expanding the physical infrastructure that supports the data center's connectivity. This includes fiber optic networks, underground conduits, and aerial cabling systems. You'll work closely with engineering teams to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and scalability of the client's global network. 🔧 Daily Responsibilities Fiber Infrastructure Maintenance Inspect, test, and repair fiber optic cables and splice enclosures Perform routine audits of fiber routes and document any anomalies Monitor signal integrity and troubleshoot transmission issues Installation & Upgrades Install new fiber lines, conduits, and related hardware Assist with expansions of the outside plant network to support new server clusters Coordinate with vendors and contractors for large-scale installations Site Surveys & Documentation Conduct field surveys to assess installation feasibility Update network maps and asset tracking systems Maintain accurate records of work orders, test results, and maintenance logs Safety & Compliance Follow strict safety protocols for working in confined spaces, heights, and around electrical systems Ensure all work complies with local codes, environmental regulations, and internal standards Collaboration & Support Work with internal teams (Network Engineering, Facilities, Security) to align on project goals Provide technical support during outages or scheduled maintenance windows Skills Cable, Fiber optic, Install Top Skills Details Cable, Fiber optic, Install Additional Skills & Qualifications Additional Skills & Qualifications Hands-on experience in cabling, construction, field work, etc. would be great. This position is Veteran‑friendly, no prior fiber experience is required. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Burlington, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
