Job Description

General Description of Job:
In general, the Fiber Optic Tech will be responsible for hands on management, implementation and support of fiber optic projects from bidding through installation. Duties & Responsibilities to include but not limited to: Projects in Submittal Stage o Attend site visits when needed to verify existing fiber optic networks Projects in Approved Stage o Complete Prelim Project Review(s) for each project o Review Cost Estimate and verify type and quantity of all fiber optic components with Project team Projects in Field Work Stage o Complete field work on fiber optic projects o Perform review on-spool testing of fiber optic cables and assemble final report o Complete fiber optic cabling installation, terminations and testing per spec o Review dB loss test results and assemble final report o Review OTDR test results and assemble final report o Troubleshoot fiber optic issues with customers Resolve customer complaints by investigating problems; develop solutions; prepare reports; make recommendations to management Always maintains safe and clean work environment
Requirements:
Valid FOA Certification of CFOT and CFOS/T, a plus Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to "think outside the box" Strong communication skills, both verbal and written Thorough attention to detail to produce high quality workmanship Patient, efficient, loyal, courteous, respectful, positive attitude Excellent customer service skills Independent worker, self-motivated and manages time well Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel and Adobe Must be willing to travel 80%+ of the time. Maintain good driving record Flexibility in schedule depending on customer needs
