Job Description
Job Title:
Electronics Technician Job Description This position offers a hands-on role working with electronic assemblies in a climate-controlled repair station environment. You will assemble, test, and troubleshoot circuit boards and avionics-related electronic components at the component level, using your strong understanding of fundamental electronics principles. The role requires solid skills in soldering, diagnostics, and circuit analysis, as well as the ability to interpret schematics and technical documentation. Candidates will complete a technical knowledge assessment covering core electronics concepts such as logic gates, diodes, LEDs, transistors, resistors, capacitors, and circuit behavior. Responsibilities Assemble, test, and troubleshoot electronic circuits and components, including diodes, transistors, resistors, capacitors, LEDs, and logic circuits. Perform component-level diagnostics using multimeters, power supplies, and other bench test equipment. Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and component datasheets to support accurate assembly and repair. Identify faulty components and perform precise replacement at the component level. Carry out soldering and rework on both through-hole and surface-mount components on printed circuit boards. Document test procedures, test results, repairs, and configuration changes clearly and accurately. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workbench and overall work area. Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to resolve technical issues and improve product reliability. Support avionics installation, repair, and component assembly activities as needed in a part 145 repair environment. Work with aircraft and avionics systems, including navigation and general aviation components, in accordance with established procedures. Essential Skills Strong understanding of basic electronic components and circuit behavior, including diodes, resistors, capacitors, transistors, LEDs, and logic gates (AND, OR, NOT, NAND). Ability to perform component-level troubleshooting and repair on electronic assemblies and circuit boards. Proficiency in using multimeters to measure current, voltage, and resistance, and to diagnose short-circuit behavior and other faults. Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and component datasheets accurately. Proficient soldering and de-soldering skills for both through-hole and surface-mount technology. Ability to identify electronic components by symbol and physical appearance. Familiarity with LED characteristics, including typical forward voltage values. Ability to identify transistor types (NPN, PNP, FET) and their terminals (collector, base, emitter). Understanding of resistor networks, including series and parallel combinations, and the ability to interpret resistor color codes. Knowledge of Zener diode applications, particularly for voltage regulation. Understanding of capacitor functions, including AC coupling and DC blocking behavior. Awareness of temperature-sensitive components such as thermistors and their impact on circuit performance. Comfort working with small components and fine-pitch assemblies with attention to detail. Familiarity with basic transistor switching thresholds, such as typical base-emitter voltages for silicon BJTs. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a part 145 repair station, MRO, or similar aviation maintenance environment. Background in avionics systems, avionics electrical work, or avionics installation. Experience with aircraft components, aircraft repair, navigation systems, and general aviation maintenance. Hands-on experience with PCB assembly, electronics testing, and circuit board rework. Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, QA, and other technical teams. Strong mechanical aptitude to support installation and repair of avionics and related hardware. Why Work Here? You will work in a professional, climate-controlled environment that supports focused, detail-oriented electronics work. The organization values technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning, offering the opportunity to deepen your expertise in both core electronics and avionics applications. You will contribute directly to the reliability and safety of complex systems while working alongside experienced technicians and engineers who share knowledge and support your growth. Work Environment The role is based in a climate-controlled, indoor part 145 repair station focused on avionics and electronic component repair. Work is performed at an electronics bench using tools such as multimeters, power supplies, soldering and de-soldering equipment, and other standard test instruments. You will handle small, fine-pitch components and printed circuit boards in a clean, organized setting designed for precision electronics work. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and adherence to established repair and maintenance procedures for aircraft and avionics systems.
