Lift Equipment Technician (Offline Technician) Job Description This role focuses on inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing lift equipment prior to shipment. The Equipment Technician works on mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems, performing intensive repairs that go beyond the scope of standard technicians. This position plays a key role in ensuring that all lift equipment meets quality and configuration standards before it reaches customers. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive testing and inspection of lift equipment before shipment to ensure it meets all quality and safety standards. Proficiently troubleshoot and resolve issues related to electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical components on lift equipment. Interpret and apply information from blueprints and electrical schematics to diagnose and repair equipment. Use and maintain specialty tools and test equipment required for inspection, calibration, and repair activities. Drive, test, and conduct offline inspections on lift equipment to verify proper operation and performance. Identify defects and drive them back to the point of origin, working with relevant teams to implement effective corrective actions. Validate that each machine's configuration aligns with the corresponding sales order and properly complete the EQC (Equipment Quality Check) process. Support quality assurance and quality control activities by documenting findings, test results, and corrective measures. Collaborate effectively across departments to support continuous improvement of processes and equipment performance. Assist in training new team members on equipment functions, troubleshooting techniques, and standard processes. Use and help train others on all required electronic systems and devices, including EQC, MDS, JED, and AS400. Perform equipment repair, maintenance, and calibration tasks on a variety of heavy and rental equipment, with a focus on lift equipment. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working in an open-air shop environment and during equipment operation and testing. Essential Skills 3+ years of mechanic experience working on heavy or rental equipment. Hands-on mechanic experience with lift equipment, including JLG or similar platforms. Proven ability to troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems on complex equipment. Ability to drive, test, and perform offline inspections on lift equipment safely and effectively. Proficiency in interpreting blueprints and electrical schematics to diagnose and resolve equipment issues. Experience with equipment repair, maintenance, and calibration in a shop or field environment. Knowledge of hydraulics and hydraulic system troubleshooting. Experience supporting testing, quality assurance, and quality control processes for equipment. Ability to use and learn electronic tools and systems such as EQC, MDS, JED, and AS400. Strong attention to detail and commitment to ensuring equipment is configured correctly to sales orders. Additional Skills & Qualifications Quality control or quality assurance experience in an equipment or manufacturing environment (preferred). Experience working with rental equipment fleets and associated maintenance practices. Familiarity with electronics as they relate to lift equipment systems. Ability to train and mentor new team members on equipment operation, troubleshooting, and processes. Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively across departments and with team members. Work Environment The role is based in an open-air shop environment where lift equipment is tested, inspected, and repaired. The regular work schedule runs Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Candidates must be available to work overtime as business needs require, which may include extended hours Monday through Friday until approximately 4:30 p.m. and mandatory Saturdays and/or Sundays, typically from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., depending on production demands. The position involves frequent hands-on work with heavy lift equipment, hydraulic and electrical systems, specialty tools, and electronic systems such as EQC, MDS, JED, and AS400, in a shop setting where safety procedures and proper use of equipment are essential. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jersey Village, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr.
