G/LTE Full Job Description Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Fiber Splicer to join our team and help build end-to-end fiber optic networks. The ideal candidate is committed to delivering quality service, has a hands-on approach to solving problems, and thrives in a safety-conscious environment. You will be responsible for splicing and testing fiber optic networks, ensuring network continuity, and resolving common issues in fiber networks. This role involves working outdoors in utility construction sites and requires the ability to operate specialized testing equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Splice and troubleshoot fiber optic networks. Test and troubleshoot continuity of fiber optic networks. Operate testing equipment such as OTDR, OLTS, Power meter, and other relevant tools. Prepare fiber splice enclosures, including Tyco, Commscope, and Corning. Work closely with fiber engineers and read network documentation to understand light levels and dB loss. Collaborate with Project Managers to accomplish cluster optimization and network launches. Conduct network analysis and make suggestions to improve neighbor lists. Compare network coverage and quality in the field against the proposed design. Work on troubleshooting network issues using drive test data and tools like Actix, Edat, TEMS, and QXDM logs. Provide support for TCP/IP troubleshooting using tools such as Wireshark.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in fiber splicing preferred.
Experience:
3-5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience. Prior experience with LTE optimization and understanding of LTE technology. Knowledge of fiber design and network documentation. Experience with drive test data analysis and tools like Actix, Edat, and TEMS. Familiarity with TCP/IP troubleshooting and network issue resolution using tools like Wireshark. Experience with utility construction sites and working on ladders or bucket trucks.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of fiber optic splicing, enclosures, and testing equipment. Proficiency in OTDR, OLTS, Max Tester, and Power meter operation. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve fiber network issues efficiently. Strong understanding of network design, light levels, and dB loss. Hands-on approach to problem-solving and willingness to work in various field conditions. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
