Job Description
This 8-week Electronics/Instrumentation Internship is part of the Texas Internship Initiative Grant, offered in partnership with Workforce Solutions Golden Crescent and Victoria College. Designed for students in their final semester of either specialization in the Instrumentation & Electronics (I&E) Program, this internship provides immersive, hands-on experience in a plant setting under the supervision of experienced instrumentation or electronics technicians. This opportunity helps students transition from student to professional by enhancing equipment installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and replacement skills. Interns will work at least eight hours per week, depending on department needs. Work location to be determined. To participate, students must meet Texas Internship Initiative Grant eligibility criteria. Selected interns will receive a stipend from Victoria College to support transportation, childcare, and tuition/fees. Duties include, but are not limited to the following: Assist with product quality maintenance and safety operations; Apply and document measurement and control processes, calibration, preventive maintenance tasks; Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and loop calibrators under supervision; Apply established safety procedures, environmental protections, and product quality principles, as well as participate in safety training as applicable; Shadow and assist electronics or instrumentation technicians in safe and efficient production tasks; Other duties as assigned by the internship supervisor.
INTERN LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Apply theoretical electronics and instrumentation knowledge in a supervised industrial setting. Develop confidence in basic installation or repair skills. Understand the workflow and safety protocol in an industrial environment. Practice safe and ethical standards of production and maintenance. Strengthen communication and collaboration with other technicians. Master tasks and skills specific to this internship/Employer setting. Enrolled in the final semester of the Instrumentation & Electronics Program (either specialization) at Victoria College on the start date of the internship. Strong knowledge of monitoring, maintenance, and safety protocols. Effective communication and ability to implement detailed procedures in industrial settings. Ability to monitor and troubleshoot products and equipment for quality assurance. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.GRANT ELIGIBILITY
To qualify for this grant funded internship opportunity, students must provide the following completed forms which will be sent after the application is received: Income Verification Applicant Schedule Stipend Questionnaire For male applicants, verification of Selective Service registration The intern must be able to perform physical tasks typical of an industrial environment, including sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods. This role may require lifting and handling electronic equipment. Interns must have the dexterity to perform installation, maintenance, repair, and replacement tasks. The ability to work in a fast-paced setting and follow extensive safety protocols is required.
