Job Description
The Mechanical Automation Technician is responsible for supporting the Advanced Technology department. Responsible for troubleshooting and resolving technical problems in production, engineering, automation, and controls. Assist and provide technical support for the assembly, installation, and implementation of all equipment and processes related to automation. The Mechanical Automation Technician position is part of the Production Engineering group that supports all areas of production and assembly in the factory. This includes sheet metal stamping, copper tubing, aluminum tubing, heat exchange coils, paint, plastics, material kitting, and assembly. The ideal candidate will have the necessary skills and have relevant experience with problem solving, collaboration, and hands on mechanical aptitude.
Position Responsibilities may include:
Work with engineers to set up and/or perform tests and build equipment prototypes Read and interpret mechanical drawings, machine manuals, and electrical prints Assemble mechanical components and wire electrical components for automation equipment Robot manipulation, recovery, and troubleshooting Touch up robot programs to resolve production issues Lead equipment installation and implementation into a production environment Support production to resolve equipment, process and technical issues to maintain process in optimal state Maintain team's development area and order needed components, parts, and tools as necessary Follow all safety protocols and maintain good housekeeping standards Perform other job duties as required by supervisor/manager Nature & Scope:
Works under the general direction of the engineering team Serves as a resource in resolving problems and issues Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and goals Providing mentoring to junior technicians and support staff Knowledge & Skills:
Mechanical aptitude and experience in assembly, fabrication, or maintenance Advanced Understanding and knowledge of production engineering theory, processes, and practice Advanced Knowledge of mechanics, pneumatic and automated and electrical control systems Ability to read and interpret drawings and work instructions General knowledge of 3D CAD, SOLIDWORKS

Experience:
8+ years in production support or maintenance (electrical, mechanical technician or controls focus) 0-2 years of CAD experience General interest in working with industrial robots Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or GED required People Management:
