Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Fiber Optic Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing fiber optic and telecommunication networks to ensure seamless connectivity for our clients. Your expertise will help build reliable network infrastructure, supporting essential IT systems and communication services. Responsibilities Install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cables and related telecommunication infrastructure using industry-standard techniques. Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks, power tools, and other construction machinery safely and efficiently during installation projects. Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and wiring diagrams to accurately execute cabling and network setups. Perform climbing, ladder work, and other physical tasks required for accessing elevated or hard-to-reach areas while maintaining safety protocols. Conduct routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on fiber optic systems, ensuring optimal performance of LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), Ethernet, telephony systems, and low voltage electrical components. Assist with the setup of computer networking hardware including switches, routers, and other network infrastructure components. Document all work activities clearly through detailed reports and logs to ensure compliance with safety standards and project specifications. Skills Proven experience in field service operations within telecommunication or IT infrastructure environments. Strong knowledge of fiber splicing techniques, cabling practices, and electrical wiring standards. Ability to operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks safely while adhering to safety guidelines. Familiarity with schematics, technical diagrams, and network infrastructure layouts. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and low voltage electrical systems used in construction projects. Experience working with computer networking concepts including LAN (Local Area Network), Ethernet connections, WAN configurations, and telephony systems. Excellent climbing skills combined with physical fitness to perform outdoor installation tasks at various heights. Knowledge of telecommunication standards, schematics interpretation, and electrical experience is highly desirable. Pay:
$17.00 - $20.00 per hour
