Job Overview:
Conducts, maintains, tests and repairs electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components specific to Gallus Flexographic Printing Presses and HP Digital Press . Applies knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation. Proactively engages with third party technical experts when required for support during planned and unplanned machine downtime. Provides skilled mechanical and electrical/electronic support to the Printing Department.
Job Responsibilities:
Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical/electronic equipment including but not limited to programmable controls, numeral controls, power supplies, drives, gages and test equipment. Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles, writing specifications, local and national electrical codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment.
Perform Preventive Maintenance:
Conduct regular inspections of equipment and machinery to ensure proper functioning, minimizing downtime.
Lubrication and Cleaning:
Clean and lubricate parts, machinery, or equipment as part of scheduled maintenance.
Replace Worn-Out Parts:
Replace filters, belts, hoses, or other parts that are showing signs of wear.
Diagnose Equipment Malfunctions:
Use diagnostic tools to identify mechanical, electrical, or system failures.
Repair or Replace Damaged Components:
Fix or replace faulty parts, including electrical systems, motors, pumps, and other mechanical components. Respond to
Emergencies:
Troubleshoot and fix equipment breakdowns or system failures during emergency situations to minimize downtime.
Inspect Systems and Equipment:
Conduct routine inspections to ensure all systems (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing) are operating correctly.
Test Equipment:
Perform tests to verify that machinery or systems are working within the required specifications.
Monitor Performance:
Keep track of system performance and report any inefficiencies or issues that need attention.
Maintain Maintenance Logs:
Document maintenance work, repairs, parts used, and system status in maintenance management software or paper logs.
Report Issues:
Create reports on maintenance issues or equipment failures for review by supervisors or management.
Track Inventory:
Keep records of spare parts and materials, ensuring sufficient stock is available for repairs.
Follow Safety Protocols:
Adhere to workplace safety standards (e.g., lockout/tagout procedures, wearing PPE) when performing tasks.
Install New Equipment:
Assist in the installation or setup of new equipment, machinery, or systems.
Set Up System Configurations:
Help configure machinery settings or system parameters based on specific operational needs. Work with
Technicians or Contractors:
Collaborate with other team members or external contractors for more complex repairs or system installations. Coordinate with
Production Teams:
Communicate with production or operations teams to ensure maintenance activities do not disrupt ongoing work. Assist in
Facility Improvements:
Help with projects to improve equipment efficiency or facility conditions. Support in
Equipment Upgrades:
Assist with upgrading machinery or systems to more efficient or modern models.
Train Junior Technicians:
Provide training to entry-level technicians or apprentices on best practices, safety protocols, and equipment handling. Stay Current on
Technology:
Stay updated with industry advancements and new technologies related to equipment or systems maintenance. All decisions pertaining to day-to-day machine operations can be made by the job holder with discretion of production supervisor and maintenance supervisor. Submit purchase requisitions and both planned and unplanned downtime in SAP. Performs other duties as required.
Requirements:
Must have Driver's license with good DMV record Reliable; Good attendance Strong work ethic; Positive attitude Attention to detail Ability to demonstrate high proficiency in all areas of the Maintenance Technician duties. Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Works as a team player; must be able to work well with all levels of personnel. Emotional intelligence A thorough knowledge of equipment including the use of instruments for diagnostic purposes. Ability to follow instructions Ability to lift 50lbs Ability to work at heights and in close quarters performing analysis and repair work. Willing to work any shift and overtime as required.
Job Knowledge/Skills:
Basic plumbing skills Strong problem-solving skills Understanding of ladder and relay logic Maintain adequate lubrication and inspection intervals Understand and troubleshoot pneumatic systems, industrial machine mechanism and industrial electronic equipment and electrical systems Utilize technical documentation and interpret schematics Understand and troubleshoot PLCs and VFDs Practical knowledge of electrical testing equipment Attend general machine maintenance activities including preventive and corrective Ability to troubleshoot on the fly with limited resources (google) Display practical understanding of various hand and power tools, their functions, and safe operation.
