Job Description

Soldering Technician Position Overview Actalent is seeking a detail-oriented Soldering Technician to support the assembly and production of high-quality printed circuit boards (PCBs). This role involves precision soldering of surface-mount and through-hole components, working with microscopes, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate has hands-on SMT experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to interpret technical documentation. Key Responsibilities Assemble electronic components and PCBs in accordance with drawings, specifications, and processes Perform precision soldering of SMT and through-hole components (down to 0402 size) Apply solder paste for surface-mounted components and support reflow processes (if applicable) Inspect work to ensure compliance with quality and manufacturing standards Maintain accurate production and work logs on a daily basis Read and interpret assembly instructions, prints, and electrical schematics Collaborate closely with Quality Control, Manufacturing, Materials, Engineering, and Test teams to ensure clear communication and efficient production Identify various electronic components and technologies used in digital, analog, and RF boards Required Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (minimum requirement) Proven experience in SMT soldering and electronic assembly Ability to solder using a microscope with high precision Familiarity with industry standards such as IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, and QMS Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and assembly drawings Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity Effective written and verbal communication skills in English Ability to sit for extended periods in a production environment Preferred Qualifications CIS (Certified IPC Specialist) - J-STD-001 certification Experience with wire bonding Experience operating reflow ovens and applying solder paste Additional experience with PCB assembly processes and inspection techniques Additional Requirements Must be eligible to work in the United States Must be able to successfully pass a background screening Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Manassas, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
