In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining aquarium systems, performing equipment repairs, and ensuring optimal water quality. Your hands-on approach and technical expertise will help create a captivating experience for visitors and support the well-being of aquatic life. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to work with diverse marine and freshwater species while honing your maintenance and social skills in a retail sales environment. Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance on aquarium systems, including filtration, lighting, and heating equipment to ensure optimal operation. Conduct regular water testing and treatment to maintain proper chemical balance and water quality standards. Repair and troubleshoot mechanical equipment such as pumps, filters, and lighting fixtures using hand tools and power tools. Clean tanks, glass surfaces, filters, and surrounding areas to uphold cleanliness standards and enhance visual appeal. Assist with the installation of new equipment or system upgrades to improve aquarium functionality. Monitor aquatic life health, identify signs of illness or stress, and coordinate appropriate care or treatments. Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, water parameters, repairs performed, and inventory levels. Skills Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in repairing aquarium or pool equipment. Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools for maintenance tasks. Knowledge of pool maintenance and cleaning techniques is a plus. Experience as a service technician or in a similar maintenance role involving complex equipment repair. Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues efficiently and implement effective solutions. Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills for record keeping. Good physical stamina to perform cleaning, repairs, and inspections in various environments.
