Job Description:
The Electrical and Controls Technician holds a general responsibility for production equipment throughout the manufacturing facility with regard to all controls (including PLCs), electrical and mechanical projects and repairs. The technician will provide lead support in various maintenance tasks related to preventive maintenance, updating, repairing, optimizing and installing existing and new equipment. The technician will also support electrical projects initiated by maintenance work orders, Maintenance Management or Engineering Personnel. Provide troubleshooting, repair, modification, and preventive maintenance for PLC-based control systems, loop controllers, VFDs, HMIs, chart recorders, and associated instrumentation across manufacturing and utility systems. Execute work in accordance with cGMP requirements. Use and maintain documentation systems including work orders, change control, SOPs, calibration/PM records, and validation deliverables. Ensure data integrity and proper record completion. Support process and facility equipment including, but not limited to, sterilizers, lyophilizers, filling lines, cappers, HVAC systems, chillers, and related utilities. Maintain and troubleshoot legacy PLC and control systems (e.g., obsolescence management, spare strategy, backups). Support system upgrades, migrations, and standardization efforts, including implementation of revised control logic and hardware replacements. Lead electrical troubleshooting and repair activities for low- and high-voltage systems (up to 480 VAC). Execute work safely in accordance with NFPA 70E and site procedures while supporting installations, capital projects, and facility modifications. Read, interpret, and modify control logic. Clearly document and communicate programming changes and system behavior to support investigations, deviations, and root cause analysis. Maintain accurate control system documentation and backups. Read and interpret electrical schematics, loop diagrams, P&IDs, panel layouts, and mechanical drawings, including pneumatic, gas, vacuum, and high-pressure systems. Apply knowledge of AC/DC circuits, motor controls, instrumentation, and test equipment to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently. Utilize standard software and control platforms, including PLC programming software, HMI/SCADA tools, and basic industrial networking. Proficiency with Microsoft Office required; experience with ERP (e.g., SAP) preferred. Execute work with minimal supervision and demonstrate ownership of assigned systems, including reliability improvement and follow-through on corrective actions. Apply knowledge of AC/DC circuits, motor controls, instrumentation, and test equipment to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently. Utilize standard software and control platforms, including PLC programming software, HMI/SCADA tools, and basic industrial networking. Proficiency with Microsoft Office required; experience with ERP (e.g., SAP) preferred. Execute work with minimal supervision and demonstrate ownership of assigned systems, including reliability improvement and follow-through on corrective actions.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent required 4+ years related experience required Rockwell (ControlLogix/SLC), legacy platforms (PLC-5, SLC 500 required).
HMI/SCADA
(FactoryTalk) required.
