Job Description

Position Overview:
Cedar Lake Sand & Gravel is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer or Engineering Technician to support the operation and maintenance of our dredging equipment. This role is focused on electrical systems, motor controls, and PLC-based automation in a heavy industrial environment. The ideal candidate is hands-on, experienced in troubleshooting, and comfortable working both independently and with a team in the field.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical systems on dredging equipment Perform motor wiring, testing, and repair (3-phase systems, VFDs, starters) Program, maintain, and troubleshoot PLC systems (Allen-Bradley or similar) Support installation, maintenance, and upgrades of control systems Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control layouts Work closely with operations and maintenance teams to minimize downtime Ensure compliance with safety standards and best practices
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in electrical engineering or engineering technician roles Strong experience with motor wiring and industrial electrical systems Proficiency in PLC programming and troubleshooting Experience with VFDs, control panels, and automation systems Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and schematics Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in aggregate, mining, marine, or dredging operations Familiarity with Allen-Bradley PLCs and RSLogix / Studio 5000
Work Environment:
