Job Description

Calibration & Equipment Maintenance Manage, coordinate, and perform calibration of torque tools, gauges, and CMM equipment across North American facilities (requires periodic travel to Charlotte, NC, and McKinney, TX). Conduct preventive maintenance (PM) on all air torque tools during scheduled calibration events. Maintain and execute calibration schedules for all small measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, click wrenches, etc.). Calibrate production press hydraulic pressure gauges and related testing instruments. CMM Operation & Management Serve as the CMM process owner — responsible for setup, scheduling calibration, programming, and operation of the machine. Perform dimensional inspections on machined, in-process, production, and vendor-supplied parts using the CMM. Develop and maintain CMM programs and train operators and technicians in proper use and measurement techniques. Inspection & Quality Support Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections on machined components to ensure dimensional compliance. Support the Quality Department in verifying incoming materials and supplier components against specifications. Participate in root cause analysis of non-conforming parts and assist in implementing corrective and preventive actions. Documentation & Continuous Improvement Develop, update, and maintain written calibration procedures, work instructions, and training materials. Maintain accurate calibration and inspection records to ensure traceability and audit readiness. Collaborate on quality initiatives and continuous improvement projects to enhance process efficiency and product reliability. Actively contribute to company suggestion, quality, efficiency, and cost-reduction programs.
Education:
Technical school diploma or Associate's degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience in metrology and dimensional inspection.
Experience:
2-4 years of experience in calibration, metrology, or dimensional inspection in a manufacturing or production setting required.
Skills and Key Attributes:
Hands-on experience with CMM programming and operation; Wenzel/Quartis experience preferred . Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office applications. Strong organizational and mathematical skills. Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation abilities. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to stand for up to 8 hours/day.
Travel:
Ability to travel to other facilities as needed (estimated at 10%). The Calibration Technician is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of all measurement, torque, and test equipment at the Waunakee facility, as well as calibrating torque tools for the Charlotte and McKinney plants. This role partners closely with the machining team to perform and support first-piece inspections, verifying dimensional accuracy prior to production runs. In addition, the Calibration Technician supports the Quality Department by inspecting and verifying incoming materials to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards. This individual serves as the primary resource for CMM operation, programming, and training. The position requires a strong understanding of precision measurement, calibration procedures, and quality control practices to ensure consistent product quality and adherence to customer and regulatory requirements.
