Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Talascend is currently seeking an Electrical Maintenance Engineer for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Calvert, Alabama . Overview This role involves supporting highly automated mill operations by analyzing production disturbances, troubleshooting automation and communication systems, and developing work orders for maintenance tasks. Responsibilities Troubleshooting and maintaining industrial process automation systems, including PLCs (GE P80i, Siemens S7, Siemens TIA Portal) and HMI systems (Wonderware, WinCC) Maintaining motor control systems utilizing VFDs Troubleshooting and maintaining low and medium voltage distribution systems such as MV 34.5kV switchgear, transformers, and motor control centers Managing industrial communication systems like LAN, Profibus, Profinet, CAN bus Maintaining process instrumentation such as conductivity, pH, flow, temperature, and pressure sensors, ensuring calibration compliance Participating in root cause failure analysis and executing corrective actions Engaging in continuous improvement projects to enhance process quality and efficiency Optimizing automation systems using process data acquisition systems Maintaining equipment reliability through review and development of preventive maintenance procedures Utilizing SAP for maintenance activities including work orders and spare parts management Training, coaching, and mentoring maintenance technicians and operational staff Developing and auditing energy control procedures to ensure safety Fostering a safety-conscious, team-oriented work environment in alignment with company values Ensuring compliance with

standards Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field Minimum of 5 years' experience with electrical maintenance in an industrial environment, preferably in a steel mill Understanding of programming principles including ladder logic, function block, and textual programming Competent in multiple programming platforms; familiar with Microsoft Office products Knowledge of process automation, control systems, and different memory types in control systems Experience with power feeding/distribution, motors and drives, sensors, field bus systems, HMI, network technology, and PID loop controls Ability to interact effectively with stakeholders and work collaboratively in team environments Demonstrated strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills Knowledge of reliability-centered maintenance practices Knowledge of standards such as

ISO 14001, IATF

16949, and

ISO 17025
