The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, process instrumentation, industrial automation, and control systems, with experience preparing and reviewing engineering deliverables, developing technical specifications, coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams, and supporting projects from conceptual design through detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup. The engineer will primarily work in an engineering office, collaborating with project managers, process engineers, mechanical and piping engineers, designers, procurement personnel, construction teams, vendors, and clients. Candidates with experience in EPC engineering firms, industrial consulting firms, engineering departments, or industrial project organizations are encouraged to apply. Primary Responsibilities A. Electrical Engineering Design Develop and review electrical engineering calculations, design documents, and technical specifications. Prepare or review electrical single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, and equipment connection drawings. Support electrical load lists, cable schedules, cable sizing, voltage-drop calculations, and equipment sizing. Develop or review electrical equipment specifications for motors, transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, variable-frequency drives, UPS systems, and distribution equipment. Coordinate electrical power distribution, grounding, lighting, and equipment installation requirements. Review vendor drawings, equipment submittals, and technical documentation. Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, project specifications, and client requirements. B. Instrumentation Engineering Design Develop and review instrument indexes, instrument datasheets, I/O lists, instrument location plans, and instrument specifications. Prepare or review instrument loop diagrams, hook-up drawings, wiring diagrams, and installation details. Support control valve sizing, selection, and specification, along with transmitter and field-instrument selection. Review P&IDs and coordinate instrumentation requirements with process engineering. Develop or review instrument cable schedules, termination drawings, junction box details, and instrument installation documents. Coordinate instrumentation procurement, vendor document reviews, and technical bid evaluations. C. Control Systems and Automation Develop and review control system architectures, PLC and DCS specifications, I/O assignments, and control-system documentation. Support the design and integration of PLC, HMI, SCADA, DCS, and industrial communication systems. Review control narratives, functional descriptions, cause-and-effect matrices, alarm requirements, and interlock documentation. Coordinate control-system hardware, software, network architecture, and interfaces with package equipment. Support automation upgrades, system integration, and control-system migration projects. Review and coordinate documentation from system integrators and automation vendors. D. Engineering Deliverables and Project Execution Prepare, review, and maintain engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and design packages. Participate in project design reviews, HAZOPs, SIL reviews, constructability reviews, and other technical reviews as applicable. Coordinate technical interfaces between electrical, instrumentation, controls, process, mechanical, piping, civil, and structural disciplines. Prepare technical requisitions, equipment specifications, and bid evaluation documentation. Respond to technical queries and support requests for information from construction contractors and clients. Support project schedules, deliverable tracking, design changes, and engineering change management. Assist with estimating engineering hours, defining scope, and identifying technical risks. E. Construction, Commissioning, and Startup Support Provide technical support during construction, installation, testing, and commissioning. Review contractor submittals, field changes, and requests for information. Participate in factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), loop checks, and system integration testing, as required. Assist with pre-commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and project handover. Verify that final documentation, as-built drawings, and equipment records are completed. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation and Controls Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant engineering experience, and Registered Professional Engineer. Demonstrated experience in industrial engineering design, instrumentation, electrical systems, automation, or process controls. Ability to interpret and develop engineering drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and technical documentation. Understanding of industrial electrical distribution, instrumentation, control systems, and automation architectures. Experience reviewing vendor documentation and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering deliverables. Strong written communication, technical problem-solving, organizational, and project coordination skills. Preferred Technical Experience Experience with one or more of the following is desirable: Electrical design and power distribution for industrial facilities. PLC, HMI, SCADA, and DCS systems, including Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley or Siemens. Instrumentation design, control valves, transmitters, analyzers, and process measurement systems. Electrical and instrumentation design software, such as AutoCAD, SmartPlant Instrumentation/INtools, SPI, or comparable platforms. Engineering document management systems and project collaboration tools. Industrial networking and communication protocols. Applicable NEC, NFPA, ISA, IEC, IEEE, and other relevant industry standards. Specific software proficiency and code requirements will depend on the project scope and client standards.
