Job Description

Sofidel America is seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical Supervisor to support our paper mill manufacturing operation in Gila Bend, Arizona , located approximately one hour southwest of Phoenix. The Electrical Lead provides leadership, technical support, and direction to the Electrical & Instrumentation maintenance team responsible for mill-wide repair, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability improvement of electrical systems, instrumentation, control systems, and related manufacturing equipment. This role is critical in supporting safe, reliable, and efficient mill operations while helping drive continuous improvement in safety, environmental performance, quality, cost control, equipment reliability, and customer service. Position Responsibilities The Electrical Lead / Electrical Supervisor will be responsible for: Providing leadership, technical support, and daily direction to the Electrical & Instrumentation maintenance department. Supporting mill-wide repair, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of electrical systems, instrumentation, PLCs, controls, and power distribution systems. Coaching and developing E&I technicians to ensure clear expectations, accountability, and strong performance. Ensuring work plans, schedules, tools, parts, and materials are available to complete daily maintenance and outage work efficiently. Supporting improvements in electrical and instrumentation reliability through reliability-centered maintenance practices, root cause failure analysis, and preventive/predictive maintenance strategies. Ensuring compliance with Electrical Safe Work Practices, including NFPA 70E and applicable safety standards. Communicating maintenance results, equipment issues, action plans, and improvement opportunities clearly and effectively. Addressing employee issues or concerns appropriately and helping maintain a professional, team-oriented work environment. Providing E&I job planning support as needed for assigned areas of the mill. Coordinating and managing contracted electrical or instrumentation services when required. Providing maintenance duty/on-call coverage as needed to support continuous mill operations. Utilizing a Computerized Maintenance Management System to manage work orders, maintenance activities, documentation, and performance results. Supporting Sofidel's commitment to safety, operational excellence, continuous improvement, and sustainable manufacturing practices. Basic Qualifications Qualified candidates should have: Associate degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field. Five or more years of industrial electrical, industrial electrical engineering, or military electrical experience. Electrical Journeyman license preferred or required based on business needs and applicable regulations. Two or more years of supervisory or lead experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System. Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and related business systems. Technical Knowledge & Job Requirements Preferred technical experience includes: Experience in a manufacturing environment; pulp, paper, converting, or tissue manufacturing experience preferred. Knowledge and skill with Rockwell Automation software, including RSLogix/Studio 5000, SLC 500/RSLogix 500, and FactoryTalk Studio/View. Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers, including ControlLogix, CompactLogix, and MicroLogix. Knowledge of Distributed Control Systems such as ABB, Rockwell, Valmet DNA, or Honeywell Experion PKS. Experience with Variable Frequency Drives, including ABB ACS 800 and Allen Bradley PowerFlex. Understanding of industrial communication protocols, including Fieldbus, Modbus, Profibus, ControlNet, DeviceNet, HART, Ethernet TCP/IP, Fiber, and OPC. Knowledge of power distribution systems, including single phase, three phase, low voltage, medium voltage, and high voltage. Experience with instrumentation calibration for pressure, temperature, flow, level, and related process measurements. Familiarity with Windows/Linux systems and industrial networking hardware and software, including Cisco or Juniper systems. Advanced computer skills and proficiency with MS Office and other Windows-based programs. Proficiency with AutoCAD. Knowledge of NFPA 70, NEC, and
NFPA 70E
requirements. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment. Willingness to be hands-on with industrial equipment and support troubleshooting in the field. Essential Job Functions & Physical Demands Regular and reliable on-site attendance is an essential function of this position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, and hear. The employee is also frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, and controls; reach with hands and arms; climb ladders and scaffolding; balance; stoop; kneel; crouch; and work around industrial manufacturing equipment. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close inspection, visual accuracy, and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment This position is located in an active paper mill manufacturing environment. The role may require exposure to industrial equipment, varying temperatures, noise, elevated work areas, confined spaces, and other conditions typical of a 24/7 manufacturing facility.
