Systems Engineer Digital Signal Processing | Space Systems Scottsdale, AZ Competitive Salary U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law We are hiring a Systems Engineer specializing in Digital Signal Processing (DSP) for space-based systems, supporting the development and integration of signal processing algorithms implemented in hardware and software. This role requires systems engineering expertise and experience with DSP algorithm development, statistical analysis of signal parameter measurements, Detection & Estimation Theory, Random Processes Analysis, Communications and Information Theory, and MATLAB. Candidates with experience in radar processing, RF effects processing and mitigation, Monte Carlo analysis, phased arrays, beamforming, Python, SmallSats/CubeSats, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) integration and testing, MBSE/SysML, or space payload design and integration are strongly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
Support systems engineering activities for space-based systems incorporating digital signal processing algorithms implemented in hardware and software. Develop and evaluate DSP algorithms for statistical analysis of signal parameter measurements. Apply Detection & Estimation Theory, Random Processes Analysis, and Communications and Information Theory to signal processing applications. Use MATLAB and related DSP toolboxes to develop, model, analyze, and evaluate digital signal processing solutions. Support requirements management, system modeling, hardware/software integration, and system-level engineering activities. Apply systems engineering concepts, principles, theories, and technical standards throughout the development lifecycle. Identify opportunities to apply AI to engineering processes for continuous improvement and innovation.Qualifications:
U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or a related Science, Engineering, Technology, or Mathematics field. 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3+ years of job-related experience. Systems engineering experience supporting complex hardware and/or software systems. Experience with digital signal processing algorithm development. Experience performing statistical analysis of signal parameter measurements using concepts from Detection & Estimation Theory, Random Processes Analysis, and Communications and Information Theory. Working knowledge of MATLAB for DSP applications, including related toolboxes. Understanding of systems engineering concepts, principles, theories, and technical standards. Understanding of requirements management and system modeling tools.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Python. Experience with radar processing. Experience with DSP techniques for processing or mitigating RF effects. Experience with Monte Carlo analysis. Experience with phased array and/or beamforming technologies. Experience with SmallSat and CubeSat development. Experience with hardware prototype development, FlatSat environments, hardware integration, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systems integration and testing. Electrical Engineering and/or Systems Engineering experience with a communications or digital signal processing focus. Experience with Agile hardware, software, or firmware development. Experience with DevOps and CI/CD practices. Experience with Digital Engineering and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), including SysML, MagicDraw, and/or Cameo.
