You will support testing and assembly of motor subcomponents and motor assemblies by designing test setups and assembly tooling for systems that are currently in-production as well as for future products currently in-development. for detailed 3D part generation/revision and 2D drawing layout, ensuring design completeness and accuracy Conduct stack-up analyses for parts and mating interfaces to inform components' GD&T and manufacturing requirements Lead root cause analysis studies to identify issue origins and determine appropriate containment actions Develop timelines for design, detailing, fabrication, assembly, and preparation for test system and tooling Have ownership of some motor components for design, validation, production, and manufacturing support Collaborate and manage suppliers with DFM, DFA, DFMA, and open issues lists to ensure the delivery of parts on-time, to-spec, and within acceptable quality criteria Travel to vendors and Rivian plant(s) for issue identification and resolution Cross functional collaboration with various teams across Rivian Mentor other team members on designs and development of tooling and test systems 5+ years of experience working in a fast-paced environment on the mechanical design of complex components Formal education in mechanical engineering or similar discipline; B.S. minimum Proficiency with major 3D CAD software package;
