ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Our client is an established specialty contractor focused on water and wastewater construction projects throughout Northern California. They are looking for a Project Engineer to join their project team and work closely with the Project Manager and Superintendent to support the successful execution of complex water and wastewater facilities. This is a hands-on opportunity for a construction professional who wants to build deeper experience in project management, project controls, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and the technical aspects of water and wastewater construction.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the Project Manager and Superintendent with day-to-day project execution. Maintain current project documentation and information within Procore. Prepare and track RFIs, potential change orders, and related project documentation. Assist with submittals, including coordinating with engineers, suppliers, and other project stakeholders through approval and release. Assist with developing project plans, work plans, and other project documentation. Issue and track purchase orders and subcontracts. Maintain bills of materials and assist with material tracking. Attend project and coordination meetings. Monitor project budgets and assist with maintaining project profitability. Monitor project schedules and assist in keeping projects on or ahead of schedule. Assist with project billing and project cost tracking. Receive and verify materials delivered to the project site. Support project safety efforts, including pre-planning and engineering measures. Coordinate with the Superintendent to ensure appropriate equipment is available, maintained, and utilized efficiently. Help ensure construction is performed in accordance with contract documents, specifications, industry standards, and intended project requirements. Assist with project startup and closeout activities. Maintain and track record drawings and project documentation. Communicate significant project issues to the Project Manager, Superintendent, and management when they may affect safety, schedule, profitability, quality, project performance, or the company's reputation.
IDEAL BACKGROUND
Construction Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, or similar experience. Experience with commercial, civil, industrial, water/wastewater, utility, or infrastructure construction preferred. Familiarity with RFIs, submittals, change management, purchase orders, subcontract administration, and project documentation. Experience with Procore or similar construction management software preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, engineers, suppliers, and field personnel. Strong interest in learning the technical and operational aspects of water and wastewater construction. Detail-oriented with the ability to identify and communicate issues before they impact project safety, schedule, cost, or quality.
