Apartment Maintenance / Renovation Technician Job Description This full-time Renovation Technician role focuses on interior apartment renovations, including plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, drywall, and related repairs. You work Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and support a wide range of renovation and maintenance activities using your own tools. The position begins as a temporary assignment with the opportunity to transition to a permanent role based on satisfactory performance. Responsibilities
  • Perform interior apartment renovations, including demolition, installation, and finishing work to prepare units for new or existing residents.
  • Complete plumbing tasks such as installing, repairing, or replacing fixtures, fittings, and related components.
  • Carry out basic electrical work, including troubleshooting issues and installing or replacing electrical components in accordance with safety standards.
  • Execute carpentry work such as framing, trim installation, cabinet repairs, and other woodwork required for apartment interiors.
  • Install, repair, and finish drywall, including taping, mudding, sanding, and patching to achieve a clean, paint-ready surface.
  • Perform painting tasks, including surface preparation, priming, and applying finish coats to walls, ceilings, doors, and trim.
  • Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete renovation and repair tasks.
  • Troubleshoot and repair appliances as needed to ensure they operate safely and reliably.
  • Diagnose and repair general maintenance issues within apartment interiors, ensuring timely and high-quality completion of work orders.
  • Provide courteous, customer-focused service when interacting with residents, property staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area during and after each project.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation after hire, being available for one week at a time to respond to after-hours maintenance needs as required. Essential Skills
  • Hands-on experience with interior apartment renovations, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, and painting.
  • Proficiency in basic electrical work, including troubleshooting and installation of electrical components.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving maintenance and repair issues efficiently.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for a variety of renovation tasks.
  • Experience with appliance repair, including diagnosing issues and performing necessary repairs or replacements.
  • Skilled in plumbing tasks such as installing, repairing, and maintaining fixtures and related systems.
  • Carpentry skills, including installation, repair, and finishing of interior components such as cabinets, doors, and trim.
  • Drywall installation and repair skills, including taping, mudding, sanding, and patching.
  • Competence in interior painting, including proper surface preparation and application techniques.
  • Customer service orientation, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with residents and staff.
