Full Job Description Overview:
Must be a US Citizen 3 month contract position Customer and contract specific training will be required and provided. Driving Required Location - Pasadena, CA (Onsite) Offer contingent on ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screen LCAT - Facilities Engineer III The US base salary range for this full-time position is $50-70/hr. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Review electrical design drawings, calculations, and specifications for: Compliance with the California Electrical Code (CEC), and applicable building and energy codes. Adherence to the JPL Facilities Design Standards and accepted engineering practices. Coordination with architectural, structural, mechanical, and other building systems. Constructability, clarity, completeness, and long-term maintainability.
Review and evaluate:
Electrical load calculations, short-circuit and coordination studies, and single-line diagrams. Grounding and bonding systems, lighting and lighting control systems, and power distribution systems. Provide clear, concise, and actionable written Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) comments and technical feedback to designers and consultants using Bluebeam. Review resubmittals and verify incorporation of required corrections. Assist in the development and maintenance of QA/QC review standards, checklists, and procedures. Participate in technical meetings and internal design reviews; provide guidance on code interpretation and design issues. Identify non-conforming work, potential safety risks, and design deficiencies, and support their resolution. Maintain accurate records of reviews, approvals, and QA/QC documentation. Prepare activity summaries and status/progress reports. Support continuous improvement of design quality, consistency, and compliance across facilities projects. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required Skills:
Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline with minimum of 6 years of related experience; or a Master's degree in similar discipline with a minimum of 4 years of related experience, or a PhD in similar disciplines with a minimum of 2 years of related experience. Must have QA/QC experience and design review of moderately complex building or facilities projects. Demonstrated knowledge of electrical building systems, applicable codes, and industry best practices. Ability to read, interpret, and evaluate construction drawings, specifications, and engineering calculations. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear technical documentation. Demonstrated ability to work independently with efficiency and sound professional judgment. Experience with high-voltage systems, electrical controls equipment, and controls interfaces. Proficiency with Bluebeam; working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.
Desired Skills:
Professional engineering license or progress toward licensure. Working knowledge of LEED principles and building commissioning practices.
