Job Description

Overview Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Principal Electrical Engineer to lead the design and development of advanced electrical and embedded systems for UAV/drone platforms . The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in PCB design, power electronics, embedded systems, analog/digital circuit design, and electrical testing . This is a hands-on technical leadership role working closely with Engineering and Operations teams to develop innovative, reliable, and manufacturable drone technologies. Key Responsibilities Lead the design of electrical circuits, schematics, PCBs, and embedded systems for UAV platforms. Design and develop power electronics , including batteries, chargers, and high-current systems. Develop embedded hardware using microcontrollers and FPGA technologies . Perform electrical design evaluation through simulation, prototyping, and testing . Design robust analog and digital circuits with strong EMI/EMC considerations. Troubleshoot and debug PCBs, electrical assemblies, and system-level hardware. Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Testability (DFT) principles. Work with cross-functional Engineering and Operations teams on product development. Support communication interfaces including I2C, SPI, SMBus, CAN, and PWM . Contribute to BLDC motor control, flight-control systems, sensor filtering, and PID tuning . Support RF design/analysis and overall aircraft electrical architecture. Prepare engineering documentation, technical specifications, and design reports. Work closely with engineering leadership to develop and deliver new UAV technologies. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering , or equivalent experience. 7-10+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience . Strong experience with PCB design and electrical circuit schematics . Hands-on experience with embedded hardware, microcontrollers, or FPGA . Strong knowledge of analog and digital circuit design . Experience with power electronics , batteries, chargers, or high-current systems. Hands-on experience testing, troubleshooting, and debugging PCBs and electrical assemblies . Experience with serial communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, SMBus, CAN, and PWM . Strong understanding of electrical system design, simulation, and prototyping. Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience in UAV/UAS, aerospace, aviation, or defense industries. Knowledge of BLDC motors and Field-Oriented Control (FOC) . Experience with RF design or analysis . Experience tuning flight-control algorithms, PID controllers, and sensor filters . UAV pilot experience or FAA Part 107 certification . Experience with DFM/DFT and production/manufacturing environments.
Pay:
$130,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year
