Job Description

Job Description We are seeking a hands-on Electrical Failure Analysis Engineer to perform electrical fault isolation, debugging, and failure analysis of complex electronic hardware. This individual will use techniques including electrical probing, TDR, fault isolation, thermal imaging, CT/X-ray, optical microscopy, and cross-section imaging to identify and characterize electrical failures.

This position is heavily lab-focused and is best suited for an engineer who enjoys hands-on debugging and failure isolation rather than research-oriented work. The ideal candidate will have a background in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline and experience troubleshooting electrical failures at the component, board, interconnect, or hardware level.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform hands-on electrical failure analysis and fault isolation on electronic components, assemblies, and hardware.
  • Debug electrical faults and identify potential failure locations and mechanisms.
  • Perform electrical probing and measurement to support failure isolation.
  • Utilize TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry) and related techniques to identify interconnect, signal-path, or electrical discontinuities.
  • Apply thermal imaging to support fault localization and electrical debugging.
  • Utilize
CT, 2D/3D
X-ray, and optical microscopy to complement electrical analysis.
  • Perform or coordinate cross-section imaging to further investigate identified failure sites.
  • Correlate electrical findings with physical evidence to support root-cause analysis.
  • Document test methods, results, images, data, and conclusions in clear technical reports.
  • Work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to communicate findings and support troubleshooting efforts.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and follow laboratory safety and operating procedures.

  • Hands-on experience with TDR / Time Domain Reflectometry.
  • Experience with thermal imaging and thermal analysis for electrical fault localization.
  • Experience with CT / computed tomography and 2D or 3D X-ray imaging.
  • Experience with cross-sectioning and cross-section imaging.
  • Experience with SEM and/or FIB-SEM.
  • Experience with acoustic microscopy / Sonoscan.
  • Previous failure-analysis experience within consumer electronics or complex hardware products.
