$20•44/hour About the Role We are seeking an experienced Electrical Metering Test Engineer to support the testing, evaluation, and deployment of advanced electric metering systems. This position will focus on AMI 2.0 meters and ancillary metering devices , requiring hands-on electrical testing, test-plan development, troubleshooting, and compliance with applicable utility and industry standards. The ideal candidate has direct experience with electric revenue meters, AMI/smart meters, ANSI C12 standards, and laboratory testing . This is a hands-on engineering role that works closely with laboratory technicians and cross-functional engineering teams. Key Responsibilities Develop, execute, and manage test plans for AMI 2.0 electric meters and ancillary metering devices . Perform laboratory evaluations and electrical testing of metering equipment. Support testing of single-phase and polyphase electric meters . Analyze test results, identify failures, troubleshoot technical issues, and document findings. Ensure testing activities comply with
ANSI C12
standards, CPUC requirements, and applicable National Electrical Code requirements . Work with laboratory technicians during complex meter evaluations and testing activities. Evaluate meter functionality, accuracy, interoperability, and performance. Develop and maintain test procedures, technical documentation, test reports, and engineering records. Apply appropriate laboratory safety practices during electrical testing and equipment installation. Collaborate with engineering, laboratory, field, and deployment teams to resolve technical issues. Support installation, validation, and field testing of metering equipment when required. Identify testing deficiencies and recommend corrective actions or improvements. Required Qualifications Must Have Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related electrical engineering discipline. 3+ years of electrical engineering/testing experience . Direct experience with electric metering, revenue meters, smart meters, or utility metering systems . Experience developing and executing electrical test plans and test procedures . Knowledge of
ANSI C12
standards , particularly standards applicable to electric meters. Knowledge of AMI / Advanced Metering Infrastructure systems. Understanding of single-phase and polyphase metering . Experience with electrical laboratory testing, validation, troubleshooting, or equipment evaluation. Knowledge of applicable electrical codes and safety practices . Strong analytical, troubleshooting, technical documentation, and communication skills. Ability to work onsite in Westminster, CA . Preferred Qualifications Experience working with electric utilities or utility metering programs . Experience with AMI 2.0 / smart meter deployment or interoperability . Experience with CPUC regulations or California utility requirements . Hands-on experience with meter calibration or meter accuracy testing. Experience using electrical test and measurement equipment such as: Digital multimeters Oscilloscopes Power supplies Power/energy measurement equipment Meter test equipment Experience with laboratory environments and electrical safety procedures.
