Back Electrical Engineer EMI/EMC Engineering Boulder , Colorado Direct Hire Apr 23, 2026 Electrical Engineer

- $140,000 | Active Top Secret Clearance Required Design the electrical systems of the future—leading EMI/EMC engineering efforts that ensure next-generation space, air, and ground electronics perform reliably in the most demanding environments. A Day in the Life
- What you'll do
- Define EMI/EMC compliance architecture for spacecraft subsystems and assembly-level hardware
- Perform requirements flow-down, analysis, and allocation from instrument and spacecraft-level systems to electronic subsystems
- Conduct trade studies and support conceptual development of electrical subsystems for advanced mission applications
- Support hardware development efforts and provide system test support during environmental EMC testing
- Collaborate on remote sensing instruments and spacecraft bus programs with focus on EMI/EMC design, requirements, and validation
- Document test results, analyze exceedances, and develop detailed post-test compliance reports
- Participate in all phases of the engineering lifecycle—from concept development through system delivery
- Maintain strong cross-functional collaboration across engineering teams and business units
- Support additional engineering and program activities as required Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field (accredited institution required)
- 5+ years of related engineering experience (advanced degrees may substitute for experience)
- Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a security clearance if required by program
- Strong foundational knowledge of electrical engineering principles
- Ability to work effectively in collaborative, cross-functional environments
- Strong communication and organizational skills Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of EMI/EMC principles and electromagnetic interactions at the physical layer
- Experience with requirements definition, decomposition, and system-level flow-down
- Familiarity with circuit design, interface control, and hardware specifications
- Understanding of space environmental factors (e.g., radiation, Total Ionizing Dose) and their impact on EMI/EMC
- Experience with reliability analysis methods such as FMECA, WCA, and risk mitigation strategies
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-461/462/1541 and
SMC-S-016
testing standards- Experience with FPGA-based electronic architectures and EMI considerations
- Strong presentation and technical communication skills
- Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred Work Environment
- On-site work required
Location:
Boulder, CO- Work performed in office, lab, production floor, cleanroom, and outdoor research environments
- Occasional use of protective equipment required in production areas
