Job Description

Our client is a fast-growing, highly successful American Aerospace and Defense Technology company. To keep up with enormous growth in their space, we are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to design and develop advanced power electronics hardware for aerospace and space applications. This is a highly hands-on, board-level circuit design role focused on power conversion, analog electronics, DC/DC converters, and high-efficiency switching circuits. The ideal engineer has experience taking complex electronic designs from concept and schematic capture through PCB development, analysis, bring-up, testing, and validation. Responsibilities Design and develop board-level power electronics and analog circuitry for aerospace and space applications. Design high-efficiency DC/DC converters, switching regulators, power supplies, and power switching circuits . Design circuits incorporating GaN FETs (GaNFETs) and other advanced semiconductor technologies. Perform detailed circuit analysis, including worst-case, stability, load regulation, and thermal analysis. Develop electrical schematics and design documentation using OrCAD . Collaborate with PCB layout engineers and participate in PCB layout and design reviews. Design and analyze isolated and non-isolated switched-mode power supplies (SMPS), power filtering, amplifiers, high-side FET drivers, and related analog circuitry. Select components appropriate for high-reliability and space applications, considering derating, radiation tolerance, thermal performance, and reliability. Perform circuit simulation using SPICE-based tools such as PSpice or LTspice. Incorporate EMI/EMC, grounding, shielding, and noise mitigation considerations into board-level designs. Support board bring-up, hardware validation, troubleshooting, and design verification. Support integration of power electronics with electrical power, avionics, embedded control, and other spacecraft subsystems. Collaborate with systems, manufacturing, test, and other engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle. Generate and maintain technical documentation, engineering analyses, and design review materials. Required Experience Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline. 5+ years of hands-on electrical/electronic circuit design experience. Strong experience with power electronics and analog circuit design . Experience designing DC/DC converters, power supplies, switching regulators, and power conditioning circuits . Experience with isolated and non-isolated switched-mode power supplies (SMPS). Hands-on PCB / board-level design experience. Strong experience creating electrical schematics using OrCAD or similar ECAD tools. Experience collaborating with PCB layout engineers and reviewing board layouts. Experience with SMPS, load switches, op-amps, comparators, filters, and FET-based switching circuits. Experience performing circuit simulation using SPICE-based tools. Experience with hardware bring-up, validation, and troubleshooting. Preferred Experience Aerospace, spacecraft, defense, or other high-reliability electronics design experience. 8+ years of experience developing power electronics boards for spacecraft electrical power systems or similar high-reliability applications. GaN FET / GaNFET design experience. Experience designing electronics for space vehicles or spacecraft power systems . Advanced experience with OrCAD X, Allegro X, and/or Altium Designer . Strong knowledge of EMI/EMC design , grounding, shielding, and filtering techniques. Experience performing worst-case circuit analysis, stability analysis, load regulation, and thermal analysis. Experience with derating, radiation effects, component stress analysis, and space-qualified component selection. FPGA, microcontroller, or microprocessor-based control and telemetry experience. Experience identifying and resolving board-level design issues through Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA). Experience leading electrical design efforts from initial concept through production and qualification. Master's degree in Electrical Engineering. What is in it for you? Excellent Compensation plan Work on the forefront of Aerospace Technology Fast-paced environment and great teammates!
