Full-Time Ultimate Staffing is actively seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to join our client's team in Hartford County Connecticut. This supervisory role is responsible for leading and executing electrical engineering projects from design through commissioning while ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety requirements, and project specifications. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams. Key Responsibilities Electrical System Design & Engineering Translate electrical system requirements into engineering deliverables, including IFC drawing packages, specifications, and procurement documents. Lead the design and integration of Balance of Plant (BOP) electrical systems, including power distribution, GSUs, substations, switchgear, MCCs, transformers, grounding, lighting, and grid interconnections. Develop and review key deliverables such as single-line diagrams, equipment layouts, cable schedules, routing plans, and installation details. Support electrical studies and technical documentation, including load lists, short-circuit analysis, arc flash studies, and protection coordination. Coordinate interfaces between generating equipment, plant systems, control systems, and the utility grid. Integrate new designs with existing infrastructure, including system tie-ins and modifications. Ensure compliance with IEEE, NEC, NESC, ANSI, and applicable utility requirements. Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews (including HAZOPs) and support constructability, reliability, and safety assessments. Technical Coordination & Project Execution Serve as the primary electrical engineering interface among internal teams, vendors, and construction partners. Identify, track, and resolve design conflicts, interface issues, inconsistencies, and scope changes. Monitor engineering progress against project schedules, identifying risks, delays, and resource constraints. Support engineering reporting, deliverable tracking, and coordination with project controls to maintain alignment with scope, schedule, and budget. Procurement & Vendor Support Develop electrical equipment specifications and support technical bid evaluations and vendor selection. Review and approve vendor documentation for major equipment and electrical systems. Coordinate with procurement teams and vendors to resolve technical issues and ensure compliance with project requirements. Support fabrication activities, including participation in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs). Construction & Field Engineering Support Provide technical support during construction activities related to electrical installations and auxiliary systems. Resolve field issues, RFIs, and constructability challenges in collaboration with EPC and construction teams. Support commissioning activities, including energization, testing, protection validation, and system integration. Participate in site inspections, Site Acceptance Tests (SATs), and plant start-up activities. Quality Assurance & Documentation Manage electrical deliverables through the project document control system, including submittals, transmittals, and revision control. Review and approve vendor documentation to verify compliance with approved design bases and applicable codes. Coordinate third-party inspections with inspection agencies, code officials, and client representatives. Support site quality activities, including Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), hold points, and installation verification. Ensure closure of non-conformance reports (NCRs), punch lists, and corrective actions related to electrical systems. Verify accuracy and completeness of as-built documentation, turnover packages, and commissioning records. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to project and departmental quality standards. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Professional Engineer license preferred). 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering for power generation, industrial, or utility infrastructure projects. Strong knowledge of power plant electrical systems and grid interconnection requirements. Working knowledge ofDCS/SCADA
systems and electrical system integration. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6. Experience with electrical analysis software such as ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower preferred.
