Their work spans multi-residential housing, commercial and industrial facilities, healthcare, educational facilities, retail, and more.
Job Summary:
The Project Engineer supports project delivery from contract award through closeout by driving permitting, design/engineering coordination, material ordering, submittals, utility interconnection, and final documentation. This role serves as the operational engine behind project execution and ensures Project Managers receive a complete, organized, construction-ready handoff package. The ideal candidate is highly organized, technically curious, and comfortable owning the details that keep projects moving on schedule.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead project kickoff activities from contract award through mobilization, including tracking permits, design/engineering, and material ordering Manage handoff to Project Managers with a complete, organized package (drawings, permits, submittals, schedule, contacts, and open items) Prepare, submit, and track submittals including shop drawings, product data, manufacturer qualifications, and warranty documentation Support system design for solar projects using Helioscope, SolarEdge Designer, and related tools; partner with Sales on proposal-stage layouts and refine into construction-ready documentation Drive the utility interconnection process from application through permission to operate (PTO) Build project-specific safety plans aligned with the company safety program and OSHA standards Run project closeouts including as-builts, O&M manuals, warranties, lien waivers, and final inspections Maintain organized SOP folders and project files with clear, consistent labeling and documentation control from project start through completion
Requirements:
2+ years of experience in a project engineer, project coordinator, or assistant project manager role within electrical, solar, or commercial construction Working knowledge of permitting, utility interconnection, and submittal processes Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Excel, Teams); experience with project management software (Smartsheet a plus) Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills for coordination with customers, AHJs, utilities, and field crews Experience with Helioscope, SolarEdge Designer, AutoCAD, or Bluebeam preferred OSHA 30 certification preferred Bachelor's degree preferred
