Responsible for the reliability of the electrical, instrumentation, and control equipment of the plant, including MV & LV Transformers, Switchgears, MCCs, Motors, Grounding System, Lighting & Lightning Systems, PLCs, HMIs. Participate in the budgeting process and control of the maintenance cost of electrical, instrumentation, control and Automation equipment. Design and maintain the Electrical Equipment & Control system of the plant and execute and control project under $500K in the plant. Analyze electrical, control, instrumentation & Control System failures finding the root cause of them, reducing or eliminating them. Adhere to all CEMEX, OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations at all. Provide Electrical, Instrumentation & Automation technical support for operation and maintenance. Perform investigation of process deviations and anomalies related to Electrical, Instrumentation & Automation hardware and software. Implement Hardware/Software changes and upgrades on electrical, instrumentation, automation equipment. Manage projects related to design, commissioning, and performance improvement of electrical, instrumentation & automated equipment. Implement modification/change control procedures and protocols. Perform continuous Backups of
PLC & HMI.
Improve operation screens and process automation. Supervise Electrical & Instrumentation Team. Develop and propose preventative, predictive and autonomous maintenance plans. Inspect work completed by electricians & contractors to ensure safety and quality. Inspect plant equipment & systems to ensure safety and efficiency. Coordinate with suppliers and plant employees to develop specific activities for inspection and maintenance. Provide technical support and follow-up on maintenance projects and repair work. Investigate any unusual performance costs or other unusual data. Ensure work is completed in a timely manner and follow up on the quality of the work. Promote and recommend ongoing improvement in equipment and administrative procedures either individually or as part of an improvement team. Support and assist with ongoing education and technical learning for employees. Collect and analyze equipment maintenance histories, investigate failures and damage, and evaluate the effectiveness of preventative maintenance programs. Coordinate & consult with the original equipment manufacturers to resolve major electrical issues. Control design and specifications of new parts or components for the facility. Work with the Plant Maintenance Department on major plant modifications requiring the temporary shutdown of the plant. Provide advice on technical problems found in equipment manufacturing, tests, facilities and manufacturing of modified parts and components. Analyze data and information from multiple sources to identify, recommend and justify life-cycle cost and reliability improvement activities. Assist in engineering, design, specification and assessment of electrical equipment, and assets. Assist with execution and commissioning of expense/capital projects or initiatives for electrical reliability improvement. Identify and resolve long-term or chronic electrical asset concerns. Own and lead the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process for major failures to ensure prevention of re-occurrence. Monitor and Optimize Predictive and Preventive Maintenance programs. Identify, pilot and implement new technologies for reliability improvement. Drive resolution of highest impact issues with a strong sense of urgency and integrity. Utilize Six Sigma methodologies for continuous improvement of Reliability. Track and report on KPIs, metrics and key initiatives. Must have a Bachelors degree, or foreign equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, Control and Automation Engineering, or Electronics Engineering. Must have 3 years of experience as an Electrical Maintenance and Instrumentation Coordinator, Electrical Maintenance Engineer, or a related Electrical Engineering role. The 3 years of experience must include experience with: electrical, control, and instrumentation systems in the cement industry; managing complex electrical systems, industrial automation, and high-voltage infrastructure; medium and high voltage electrical systems, including protection, diagnostics, and substation operations; maintenance and diagnostics of protection relays, including fault analysis and startup procedures; commissioning and diagnostics of low and medium voltage VFDs; troubleshooting dosing and feeder control systems; diagnostics and programming of industrial automation systems and communication networks; programming of ControlLogix PLC and HMI systems; electrical design and maintenance of MV & LV equipment; PLCs (Rockwell & Modicon); troubleshooting electrical systems including variable speed drivers, motors, transformers, and generators; spreadsheet and database management software including Schneider EasyServe, GE EnerVista, SEL AcSelerator, Merrick WinMerik, GE Toolbox, TMEIC Navigator, RSLogix, Unity, and PI Processbook; SAP; AutoCAD; and Visio.
