Engineer -
Plant Hatch Summary of Job Duties:
We have openings for engineers that may be filled as a system engineer and a design engineer at Plant Hatch in Baxley, GA. System engineers ensure the reliability of assigned plant systems. They solve system and component problems, provide direct technical support for operation and maintenance, and plan long term performance improvements. Design engineers duties include preparation / coordination of designs, calculations, drawings, cost estimates and schedules for plant modifications and retrofits. Work involves field walk downs for constructability and some construction coordination. Engineers at Southern Nuclear may have opportunities to manage special projects. Also, engineers typically take key refueling outage assignments. Future developmental assignments in operations, maintenance, training, or quality assurance often prepare engineers for supervisory and management positions. Engineering assignments typically include on-call duty engineer and emergency plan response requirements.
Job Requirements:
Educational Requirements:
BS in Engineering from an ABET accredited school or PE license Electrical Engineering degree required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
An ability to solve problems and make sound engineering decisions, based on experience and appropriate industry practices, in order to make timely decisions which might impact plant safety and reliability. Strong oral and written communication skills Proven organizational skills with ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously. Capable of working efficiently and effectively across organizations. Proficient in the use of Microsoft office products, specifically WORD, EXCEL and
POWERPOINT.
Selected candidate must live within 90 of the SNC Emergency Operations Facility for emergency response availability.
