Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Specialist to support a large-scale, hyperscale data center construction project in Lithia Springs, Georgia. This role will play a critical part in bringing electrical systems online safely and efficiently, coordinating equipment startups, and ensuring systems are ready for turnover to the owner's commissioning team. Working alongside construction, commissioning, quality, subcontractor, and equipment manufacturer teams, you will oversee the transition from completed quality inspections through energization, Level 3 (L3) startup, and final documentation handoff. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong commissioning professional to gain exposure to complex, mission-critical infrastructure projects while developing skills that can lead to future commissioning leadership opportunities.
Key Responsibilities Electrical Energization:
Verify that Level 2 (L2) quality inspections are complete and equipment is ready for energization before proceeding with startup activities.
Safety & Compliance:
Review and coordinate lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and energization plans to support safe, controlled startup activities.
Vendor & OEM Coordination:
Coordinate original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), subcontractors, and field teams to execute Level 3 startup activities and functional checks in alignment with project schedules.
Equipment Startup:
Support energization and commissioning activities involving medium- and low-voltage switchgear, UPS systems, generators, automatic transfer switches (ATS), power distribution units (PDUs), and related electrical infrastructure.
Commissioning Documentation:
Track startup progress, verify test documentation and checklists, resolve outstanding paperwork, and ensure completed L3 commissioning packages are submitted accurately and on time.
Owner Turnover:
Coordinate the transition of completed systems to the owner's Level 4 (L4) commissioning team, ensuring documentation and required prerequisites are in place.
Cross-Discipline Collaboration:
Support mechanical and controls startup activities as needed, particularly where electrical power and system readiness are required.
Schedule Management:
Monitor startup milestones, identify vendor or equipment delays, and proactively coordinate solutions to keep commissioning activities moving forward. Qualifications Experience in electrical commissioning, mission-critical construction, data center operations, or large-scale commercial or industrial electrical projects. Hands-on experience coordinating electrical equipment energization, startup, testing, or commissioning activities. Working knowledge of medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems, including switchgear, UPS systems, generators, ATS, and PDUs. Understanding of LOTO procedures, safe energization practices, and applicable electrical safety requirements, including
NFPA 70E.
Experience coordinating multiple equipment manufacturers, vendors, subcontractors, and field personnel in a fast-paced construction environment. Familiarity with commissioning documentation, startup checklists, testing procedures, and turnover packages. Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and schedule coordination skills. Ability to work full-time on-site in Lithia Springs, GA, with flexibility for extended workdays during critical energization and startup windows.
