Electrical Engineer
Job Description
AFO is looking for an Electrical Engineer to work in Honolulu, HI. To join our team of outstanding professionals, apply today! The Electrical Engineer provides technical engineering support for post-Hurricane Lowell damage assessment, stabilization, repair, and restoration of facility electrical systems across Kauaʻi. The position supports emergency power and mission-critical restoration while providing technical oversight of contractor repair activities.
- Responsibilities
- + Conduct field assessments of electrical damage and facility power systems.
+ Evaluate electrical distribution, generators, emergency power, lighting, controls, and related systems.
+ Develop repair, replacement, and restoration recommendations.
+ Support temporary power and emergency restoration of mission-critical facilities.
+ Review electrical drawings, specifications, submittals, equipment selections, and contractor repair approaches.
+ Provide field engineering support and resolve electrical construction issues.
+ Inspect contractor work for compliance with approved designs, specifications, codes, and Government requirements.
+ Support development and validation of repair scopes, quantities, cost estimates, and schedules.
+ Coordinate with Construction Managers, Civil/Mechanical Engineers, SSHO, QC, Logistics, contractors, and Government representatives.
+ Document field conditions, deficiencies, completed repairs, and remaining requirements.
- Qualifications
- + Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
+ 5+ years of electrical engineering experience, preferably involving facilities, infrastructure, or construction.
+ Experience with electrical distribution, emergency power, generators, controls, and facility electrical systems.
+ Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and technical submittals.
+ Strong field assessment, problem-solving, and communication skills.
+ Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
+ Experience supporting Federal/DoD, NAVFAC, USACE, or military installations preferred.
+ Experience with hurricane/disaster recovery, emergency power, or rapid facilities restoration preferred.
+ Experience with mission-critical facilities and medium- and low-voltage electrical systems preferred.
