Bonus Potential Role Summary:
Randstad USA is seeking an experienced Electrical / Controls Engineer for a direct hire opportunity supporting a chemical and coatings manufacturing facility in Waukegan, IL. This role serves as the site's technical expert for electrical systems, instrumentation, automation, PLC controls, industrial networking, and cybersecurity initiatives. Candidates with experience in chemical manufacturing are required, while paints and coatings industry experience is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Support and maintain plant electrical, instrumentation, and control systems Program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLCs, VFDs, instrumentation, and industrial automation systems Develop preventative maintenance strategies for electrical and control assets Create and maintain control system backups, lifecycle plans, and spare parts strategies Lead automation and digital transformation initiatives across manufacturing operations Design and specify electrical and automation systems for capital and improvement projects Develop and maintain industrial network architecture, equipment maps, and control system documentation Act as site technical expert for industrial control systems and automation projects Participate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), HAZOP, LOPA, and Process Safety Management (PSM) activities Support cybersecurity programs, vulnerability assessments, and industrial network security initiatives Manage OEMs, contractors, and third-party automation vendors Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, production, and leadership teams on reliability and automation improvements
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in: Electrical Engineering Instrumentation Engineering Engineering Technology 5+ years of electrical controls and automation experience in manufacturing Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment Hands-on PLC programming and troubleshooting experience Industrial control systems (ICS) experience
