Job Title:
Controls Engineer Job Description Join a leading organization in South Bend, Indiana that has transformed from a tool and die maker to a global leader in friction and resistance welding solutions. The company designs advanced welding machines and provides contract manufacturing services, catering to industries such as aerospace and automotive. They seek a detail-oriented and dedicated team member with high standards and a strong work ethic, eager to expand technical knowledge as a Controls Engineer. Responsibilities Collaborate with Applications Engineers, Fluid Systems Engineers, and Mechanical Engineers to provide machine control system solutions for friction welding machines. Create electrical schematics using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and ePLAN, and document Bills of Material. Conduct machine commissioning and interpret controls systems requirements from project scope documents. Implement ANSI and ISO machine design and safety standards. Develop machine sequence and control flow charts. Develop Human Machine Interface programs for machine controls using Siemens products. Enhance understanding and experience with machinery, machine controls, programmable logic controllers, and control software. Essential Skills 2 - 5 years of experience as a Controls Engineer. Experience with Siemens PLC for troubleshooting and programming. Mechanical and electrical aptitude. Customer-facing experience. Design skills using AutoCAD Electrical, AutoCAD, ePLAN. Knowledge in hydraulics and pneumatics. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline is preferred. Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or ePLAN is advantageous. Work Environment Work onsite at headquarters in South Bend, Indiana, 5 days a week, from 8 AM to 5 PM on the first shift. Expect domestic and international travel approximately twice a year with minimal overtime. This role offers an opportunity to work with an industry leader in friction welding machines, allowing for skillset expansion through custom design and integration work. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elkhart, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $48.08/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
