Job Description
Matrix designs, manufactures, and sells innovative technological products that help keep people safe. Originally focused on the underground coal mining industry, Matrix has expanded into new industrial markets in the United States and globally. We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern for a 2027 Summer Internship. The Electrical Engineering Intern will work directly with engineers and management and be exposed to a variety of engineering activities related to new product development such as design, prototyping, and testing of safety related electronic/electrical products and equipment, as well as maintenance of existing products. This exposure is designed to provide the intern experience that will help them to evaluate which areas of engineering are best suited for their skillset and likewise allow company management to evaluate the intern's ability to provide value in furthering company success. This position works in a team environment at our home office in Newburgh, IN. This is not a remote position. This is a paid internship. This position reports to the Hardware Manger. Duties and Responsibilities Participate in product design meetings with members of other groups (management, sales and marketing, software, mechanical, manufacturing, etc.) to gather requirements Assist in development of product specifications (may require research of regulatory requirements for a given market and based on general requirements provided) Assist in building and testing design prototypes for proof of concept Participate in design reviews Perform research on various engineering related topics to assist during product development or testing Help design fixture/system to test PCB assembly and/or finished product assembly as well as develop the procedure for performing tests and documenting the results Create and maintain various forms of documentation such as manufacturing drawings, regulatory approval drawings, test procedures, test reports, user manuals, product specifications, evaluation reports, engineering proposals/estimates, technical reports etc. Manage and log time for multiple concurrent projects with different priority level Work on projects, both in groups and independently Shadowing experienced engineers on some projects to develop or hone new skills
