EMC Engineer Job Description The EMC Engineer supports the Advanced Safety and User Experience segment by developing electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) test capabilities, overseeing laboratory execution, and ensuring that all product validation activities comply with automotive EMC standards and ISO laboratory accreditation requirements. This role combines hands-on lab work with technical leadership, continuous improvement, and close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities Oversee EMC laboratory testing and ensure all activities align with approved test plans, automotive EMC standards, and internal procedures. Ensure compliance with ISO laboratory requirements across all EMC validation activities. Support and mentor EMC Technicians in test execution, lab processes, and best practices. Develop, enhance, and maintain EMC testing capabilities, methods, and technologies to support current and future product needs. Generate clear, detailed technical reports and present findings to internal and external stakeholders. Set up, maintain, and operate EMC lab equipment such as spectrum analyzers, EMI receivers, signal and transient generators, and oscilloscopes. Monitor lab performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity, accuracy, and quality of test results. Stay current on evolving EMC standards, technologies, and industry best practices and apply this knowledge to lab processes and test strategies. Effectively plan and organize test activities to meet project timelines and quality expectations. Work independently to troubleshoot issues in test setups, equipment, or processes and implement corrective actions. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology. At least 1 year of experience in electrical engineering or testing/validation roles. Foundational knowledge of electrical and electronic systems relevant to EMC testing. Strong written communication skills for preparing technical documentation and reports. Strong verbal communication skills for collaborating with technicians, engineers, and stakeholders. High attention to detail with the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work effectively. Ability to work independently as a self-starter and take ownership of assigned tasks. Comfort working with and operating test and measurement equipment such as spectrum analyzers, EMI receivers, signal/transient generators, and oscilloscopes. Additional Skills & Qualifications EMC laboratory experience or exposure to EMC testing environments. Experience in automotive or electronic product development environments. Familiarity with automotive EMC standards and related test methodologies. Experience working within ISO-accredited laboratory environments. Demonstrated ability to mentor or support technicians in a lab setting. Experience in validation or verification of electronic systems and components. Work Environment This role is based in an EMC laboratory environment with regular hands-on work using spectrum analyzers, EMI receivers, signal and transient generators, oscilloscopes, and other test and measurement equipment. The position primarily operates on a second shift schedule from approximately 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM, with some flexibility for earlier start times or a schedule of four 10-hour shifts, depending on business needs. New hires will need the ability to train on a first shift schedule for approximately 1 to 2 months before transitioning to the regular shift. The work involves a mix of independent tasks and close collaboration with technicians and engineers in a structured, process-driven setting focused on quality, safety, and continuous improvement. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Westfield, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
