Job Description

Role Purpose The T&D Engineer Intern supports the engineering and design of Cleco's transmission and distribution systems. This position works alongside experienced engineers and project team members to learn how electrical infrastructure is planned, designed, constructed, and maintained. This internship provides an opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to utility projects while developing technical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Key Responsibilities Assist engineers with transmission and distribution design projects. Support the preparation and review of engineering drawings, calculations, project documents, and other technical deliverables. Help research and evaluate project information to support engineering recommendations. Participate in project meetings and collaborate with engineering, operations, and other business teams. Assist with tracking project materials, design needs, schedules, and technical updates. Learn how engineering standards, safety requirements, and design practices are applied to utility projects. Support improvements to engineering processes, procedures, and design activities. Share project findings or accomplishments with leaders at the end of internship. Qualifications Required Education, Skills & Experience Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or another applicable engineering discipline Interest in electric utilities, infrastructure, engineering design, or project work Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Willingness and ability to learn new technologies on the job Proficient at functioning effectively within a team environment and presenting ideas and opinions in a respective and collegial manner Key Competencies
