CONTROLS ENGINEER
- WEEKDAY
DAY SHIFT
- \$84,800 TO \$116,600 ANNUALLY VulcanForms develops industrially scalable laser metal additive manufacturing technology for aerospace, defense, medical, and other critical industries.
Role:
Provide onsite controls expertise in support of 24/7/365 manufacturing operations. VulcanForms operates large industrial 3D printers, and this role is responsible for troubleshooting controls-related downtime, restoring production, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing improvements. You will work closely with mechanical, electrical, software, engineering, and operations teams.Schedule:
Monday through Wednesday and every other Thursday, weekday day shift.Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor system performance and equipment health
- Identify and escalate potential issues before they affect production
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Minimize downtime and restore service promptly
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive measures
- Document downtime, incidents, corrective actions, and improvement activities
- Collaborate with Engineering and Operations on issue resolution and process improvements
- Read and troubleshoot PLC code and electrical schematics
- Support commissioning, equipment integration, and controls improvements
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience designing, commissioning, and troubleshooting industrial control hardware and software
- Bachelor\'s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Robotics Engineering, or a related field; equivalent hands-on experience may be considered
- Proficiency with motion control, industrial safety systems, HMIs, process monitoring, and industrial networking
- Understanding of industrial controls safety requirements, fieldbus networks, Powerlink, TwinCAT, EtherNet/IP, AC and 24V DC systems, high-voltage drives, motors, and industrial sensors
- Proficiency in at least three
IEC 61131-3
programming languages, preferably Structured Text and Sequential Function Chart- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and troubleshoot PLC code
- Experience with B&R, Beckhoff, or similar automation platforms
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with additive manufacturing, including PBF, DED, or DMLS
- Experience using GitHub or other version control software in a multi-developer environment
- Experience selecting and applying industrial sensors and actuators
- Experience tuning closed-loop position, pressure, flow, and temperature systems
- Strong documentation skills, including root cause analyses, software design specifications, and ECOs
- Familiarity with QMS and commissioning protocols such as
FAT, SACT, IQ, and MMP Compensation:
- Annual base salary: \$84,800 to \$116,600
- Actual compensation depends on skills, qualifications, and experience.
