Job Description

Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to design and build lab test cabinets that support commissioning and functional testing, emphasizing robust and repeatable setups. This role is distinct from production panel manufacturing and focuses on developing standardized, technician-friendly solutions.
Responsibilities:
Design and construct lab test cabinets to support commissioning and functional testing with a focus on robust, repeatable setups. Implement 3-phase power distribution for drives up to 480 VAC, ensuring proper protection, isolation, grounding, and safe-state behavior. Integrate core cabinet systems such as disconnects, breakers, fuses, contactors, E-stop chains, interlocks, indicators, power supplies, terminals, measurement points, and I/O breakout. Define standardized interfaces between test infrastructure and units/cabinets under test to prevent miswires and reduce setup time. Develop and maintain test procedures for production cabinets, including incoming inspection checklists, power-up sequences, and functional checks. Support troubleshooting and failure analysis across electrical and controls boundaries, including power faults, grounding issues, and communication problems. Collaborate with Software and Mechatronics engineers to ensure technician-friendly solutions. Produce technician-ready documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, cabinet BOMs, panel layouts, hookup guides, and troubleshooting playbooks. Contribute to iterative improvement by prototyping, testing with technicians, and refining processes.
Qualifications:
Experience with high voltage 3-phase systems up to 480 VAC and commissioning equipment such as drives. Strong understanding of electrical safety, including grounding/bonding, protection devices, isolation, and safe work practices. Ability to read and create electrical documentation such as schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts. Hands-on troubleshooting skills with real equipment, including the use of DMM and clamp meters.
Additional Qualifications:
Experience with motor drives, VFDs, servos, and associated power and control wiring practices. Familiarity with industrial safety circuits and interfaces, including E-stops and interlocks. Familiarity with industrial control panel practices and standards such as
UL 508A, NFPA
70, and NFPA 79. Experience writing technician workflows and acceptance procedures, and collaborating with CMs or external panel shops. Comfort coordinating with Controls/PLC engineers and debugging cabinet behavior involving electrical and software/configuration.
