Electrical Project EngineerPosition OverviewWe are seeking a proactive Electrical Project Engineer to lead the electrical design and delivery of commercial and institutional MEP projects. The successful candidate will manage technical scope, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure projects are executed on time, on budget, and to quality and safety standards. This role is ideal for an engineer with practical electrical design experience, familiarity with construction processes, and proficiency in Revit and CAD tools.
Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and review electrical design drawings, schematics, load calculations, lighting layouts, and single-line diagrams for MEP projects.
Prepare and coordinate detailed electrical design packages using Revit and CAD for construction and permitting.
Collaborate with project managers, mechanical/plumbing engineers, architects, contractors, and owners to resolve design issues and ensure integration across disciplines.
Perform electrical calculations (load, short-circuit, voltage drop) and select equipment (switchgear, transformers, panels, distribution systems, lighting controls).Maintain design documentation, specifications, and record drawings; ensure compliance with codes (NEC, local regulations) and standards.
Provide construction support including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, performing site visits, and supervising field installations as needed.
Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables for assigned electrical scope; track progress and communicate status to stakeholders.
Mentor junior engineers and technicians; review work product for technical accuracy and completeness.
Participate in commissioning and startup activities, coordinate testing, and verify system performance meets design intent.
QualificationsBachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
EIT certification strongly preferred; PE licensure is a plus.3+ years of electrical design experience in MEP, building systems, or construction projects.
Proficiency with Revit (BIM) and AutoCAD for electrical design and documentation.
Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards (NEC), power distribution, lighting, controls, and grounding.
Experience performing electrical calculations (load, short-circuit, voltage drop) and equipment selection.
Working understanding of construction administration, submittal/RFI processes, and field coordination.
Excellent communication, coordination, and project management skills; ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and clients.
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and commitment to quality and safety.
