About This RoleTextron Systems is seeking engineers to join our Sea Systems business area to develop solutions in support of our unmanned surface vehicles programs. Current focal areas include autonomous control, advanced payload integration, vision systems, and other emerging technologies to enhance our unmanned surface vehicle platforms' capabilities.
Your day may include designing, simulating, constructing, and field-testing autonomous surface vehicles and their subsystems. Our goal is to deliver disruptive autonomy technologies that enhance our customers' mission capabilities We work on applied research and development initiatives as well as established programs, and leverage diversity of thought to improve Textron Systems' lines of robotic products.

- in this role, you will:
Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed design of integrated electrical and communications systems on vehicles.
- Perform analysis, integration, and testing.
- Contribute to concept development as part of internal cross-functional design teams, including prototyping and production support.
- Prepare high-quality formal engineering documentation such as drawings, presentations, specifications, and design presentations to customers.
- Support proposal activity, providing input to cost estimates and risk assessments.
- May lead a design team.
- Will produce technical white papers, and brief management/customers on planning and progress.
- Prepare and/or manage design change documentation via Engineering Change Notices/Engineering Change Proposals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's and/or master's degree in electrical engineering, electro-mechanical engineering, or a related field with 9 years of experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including preparation of design documentation.
- Effective presentation skills.
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Visio).
- Design and integration experience in some or all of the following systems below: o Military and/or commercial vehicle systems o Control systems o Power distribution and conversion systems o Safety systems
- Proven track record of innovation and problem solving in cross functional teams.
- Familiarity with Systems Engineering, and Hardware-in-the-Loop simulation & test is required.
- Design and integration experience in some or all of the products and practices below: o Cable design o Hardware Safety and Risk analysis o RF link budgets o EMI/EMC, grounding, and environmental control o Hardware Environmental and Electromagnetic qualification to military standards o HALT and ESS testing o GPS and RF communication systems integration o AC and DC power and motors, motor controllers, and brakes o Ethernet and networking, RS232/422, CAN bus o Batteries (Lithium) o Power converters o Fault tree development and criticality analysis o Programming and algorithm development o Grounding and environmental control o Test equipment such as electronic load banks, power supplies, signal generators, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, digital multimeters, and isolation meters • The candidate should have hands-on experience troubleshooting electrical cabling and digital communication.
- Wired Ethernet and Network configuration experience is a plus.
