Electrical Design Engineer Job Description This position involves responsibility for various electrical design tasks, including instrumentation and control, power distribution, communications, programmable logic controllers, and variable frequency drives. A candidate with a strong work ethic, who can work independently and collaboratively in multi-disciplinary groups, is desired. You will need a broad range of knowledge and a willingness to develop skills in new areas. Occasional travel within the U.S. east coast may be required. A strong base of practical skills is essential to follow all aspects of the design from concept through fabrication and test. Conducting Design Reviews to ensure electrical design meets customer requirements is a key part of this role. Responsibilities Perform electrical design tasks including instrumentation and control, power distribution, and communications. Work with programmable logic controllers and variable frequency drives. Use schematic capturing tools effectively. Conduct Design Reviews to ensure designs meet customer requirements. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary groups and work independently as needed. Travel occasionally within the U.S. east coast for project requirements. Essential Skills Minimum of 5 years demonstrated electrical design experience with electrical and electronic assemblies, preferably in the aviation industry. Experience with creating production level engineering documentation for manufacturing environments. Proficiency in integration and testing support for first article builds. Familiarity with power distribution and monitoring components. Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills for interfacing with sr management and customers. Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. Experience with schematic design, wire lists, and cable drawings. Experience in the Aerospace industry is desirable. Work Environment The work environment includes both engineering and lab settings. The role is based in Columbia, MD, which involves heavy engineering with some small sub-assembly work. Occasional travel to Elizabeth City, NC for testing is required. The position offers a 9-80 work schedule, with opportunities to support the design and build of Aerostat systems for Poland. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbia, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $67.31/hr.
