Electrical Design Engineer Job Description We are seeking a skilled Electrical Design Engineer to undertake a variety of electrical design tasks. This role involves working on instrumentation and control, power distribution, communications, programmable logic controllers, and variable frequency drives. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams. A willingness to expand knowledge in new areas is advantageous. Occasional travel within the U.S. East Coast may be required. The role demands practical skills to oversee designs from conception through fabrication and testing, as well as conducting Design Reviews to ensure electrical designs meet customer requirements. Responsibilities Perform electrical design tasks related to instrumentation and control, power distribution, communications, programmable logic controllers, and variable frequency drives. Utilize schematic capturing tools for design purposes. Work independently and collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams. Develop skills in new areas as necessary. Conduct Design Reviews to ensure compliance with customer requirements. Follow designs through from concept to fabrication and testing. Essential Skills Electrical Engineering Systems Engineering Power Distribution Schematic Design Integration Testing Aerospace Experience Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Minimum of 8 years of electrical design experience in electrical and electronic assemblies Experience creating production-level engineering documentation for manufacturing Experience with integration and testing support in manufacturing environment for 1st article builds Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in the aviation industry is preferred Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills for interfacing with senior management and customers Mentoring skills for guiding other engineers Active Secret Clearance preferred but not required Work Environment The work environment includes a focus on electrical design within a manufacturing context. Candidates will interface with senior management and customers, and occasionally travel within the U.S. East Coast is required. The role involves working with schematic capturing tools and conducting integration testing in manufacturing environments. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbia, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $72.12/hr.
