Electrical Engineer - Product Development LMI Corporation - Fenton, Michigan | Full-Time | Onsite About the Role LMI Corporation designs and manufactures precision dimensional gauging and measurement systems used by automotive, aerospace, and industrial manufacturers to verify parts and ensure quality on the production line. Our product portfolio includes wireless digital gauges, seal-gap sensors, handheld measurement instruments, and LaserGauge® laser-based, non-contact measurement systems. We're looking for an early-career Electrical Engineer — recent grad or a few years in — who wants to build things, solve real problems, and see their designs become physical products, not stay simulations. You don't need to know everything already. You need strong fundamentals, curiosity, and the drive to figure things out. You'll work alongside our engineering team and an experienced EE consultant who provides technical guidance as you grow. Because we're a small team, you won't be boxed into one narrow piece of a project — you'll touch the full development process, bench to finished product. What You'll Do Design and modify analog and digital circuits; create schematics and PCB layouts Build, assemble, solder, rework, and troubleshoot prototype electronics Work with microcontrollers, sensors, displays, and communication interfaces (SPI, I²C, UART, CAN, USB, Bluetooth/BLE, MIPI-DSI) Understand what firmware can and can't do, and help debug at the hardware/firmware boundary — you won't own firmware development, but you'll need to speak the language Test and debug hardware using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and logic analyzers Simulate and evaluate circuits before prototype builds; support bring-up and troubleshooting Collaborate with mechanical engineers, software developers, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers Maintain schematics, BOMs, and test documentation Support existing products while helping develop the next generation Required Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or closely related field Strong grasp of basic analog and digital electronics Basic understanding of microcontrollers and embedded systems Comfortable with hardware and lab equipment; strong troubleshooting instincts Willingness to learn unfamiliar technologies; good communication skills Able to work independently and know when to ask for help Onsite in Fenton, Michigan Experience Can Come From Anywhere Capstone/senior design, internships, Formula SAE/robotics/IEEE teams, research labs, or personal projects (Arduino, STM32, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, home-built PCBs, repairs, 3D printing) all count. Pay:
$75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
