Job Description

Job Title:
Controls Engineer Job Description This role is responsible for the execution and development of manufacturing controls. The work will be performed in a centralized manufacturing engineering activity or assembly/plant activity, where considerable creativity and initiative are required, as well as a high level of independent judgment. Responsibilities Implement and execute projects, including SOR preparation, forecasting, controls/robotics design, equipment build/run-off, and buyoff. Design, construct, integrate, and install plant equipment, ensuring successful launch and continuous improvement. Stay updated on new controls technologies such as PLC, HMI, networks, robots, and vision systems required for producing high-quality parts. Manage deliveries according to program timing milestones. Provide project updates and reports to upper management. Support existing programs/sites through troubleshooting and other technical assistance. Provide technical direction to less experienced controls engineers. Design and troubleshoot electrical controls systems. Develop and test advanced process technology. Focus on hardware and software controls engineering design for small automated cells within the manufacturing plant. Essential Skills Proficiency in PLC programming, troubleshooting, and controls engineering. Experience with PLC ladder logic and schematics/hardware design using Logix5000 and ePlan. Familiarity with GM controls standards. Ability to independently run a cell or station without guidance.

experience or certification Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent work experience in a manufacturing environment. 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment. 5+ years of PLC work experience as a Controls Engineer. Experience with Siemens and Allen-Bradley systems. A degree or training in Mechatronics is beneficial. Strong communication skills. Work Environment This role is categorized as onsite, requiring the successful candidate to report to Orion, MI on a full-time basis in a plant floor assembly setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Lake Orion, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
