Job Description

Our DoD/Aerospace client is looking to fill an Advanced Electrical Engineer position that has just opened in Bloomington, MN . In this role, you will serve as a key contributor on a cross-functional hardware development team responsible for the design of complex, mission-critical electrical systems. You will engage across the full lifecycle of programs from requirements analysis through design, manufacturing support, integration, testing, and qualification. To be considered, you must have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related STEM field and a minimum of 5+ years of job-related experience (or a Master's degree with 3 years of experience). U.S. citizenship is required due to security and facility access requirements.

ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES
The Advanced Electrical Engineer will provide technical leadership in the design, development, and delivery of complex electrical hardware systems supporting defense, aerospace, and national security programs. You will influence system architecture, guide PCB/PWB layout activities, support hardware performance through manufacturing and qualification, and collaborate closely with internal teams, external partners, and customers to deliver high-reliability solutions.
Specific objectives include:
Participate in requirements analysis and define electrical system architecture Develop electrical schematics and define routing and layout constraints Direct and support PCB/PWB layout and routing activities Collaborate with cross-functional teams during design, integration, test, and qualification phases Support hardware manufacturing, troubleshooting, and corrective actions Interface with internal and external stakeholders to ensure technical and program alignment Contribute to the delivery of high-reliability hardware systems meeting stringent performance and quality standards Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline Minimum of 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree with 3 years of experience Strong understanding of the hardware development lifecycle from concept through production and sustainment Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary engineering environment U.S. citizenship is required due to facility and program requirements Nice to Have Skills Experience with electrical hardware design using Siemens / Mentor Graphics Xpedition tool suite High-speed and high-density circuit card design, including embedded processors or FPGAs Experience with fiber optic interfaces Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment including oscilloscopes and Ethernet network testers Signal Integrity (SI) and Power Integrity (PI) analysis experience (HyperLynx or similar) Preferred Education and Experience Full lifecycle electrical hardware development, from concept through production and sustainment Advanced circuit card design, including modern materials, packaging techniques, and high-speed interfaces PCB/PWB schematic entry, constraint management, and layout for complex systems Supporting hardware integration, testing, and qualification activities Collaborating with internal teams, external partners, and customers on mission-critical systems Other Requirements On-site work at our Bloomington, Minnesota facility Ability to independently solve complex design challenges with minimal direction Strong communication skills to present technical concepts and influence design decisions Flexibility for optional work arrangements such as 9/80 schedules Commitment to security protocols and confidentiality About our client : Our client is a mission critical DOD - Aerospace defense contractor developing solutions that will lead, serve, and protect our country.
